Group Treasurer has a sterling round

The John Parkinson Rose Ball

The Chorley Group Summer Golf Day was this year played at the delightful Wigan Golf Course near Red Rock in Wigan.

The day started with a welcoming bacon sandwich in the unique and historic club house, Arley Hall, surrounded by a 12th century moat.

This gave everyone chance to catch-up on the events of the summer break so far and for some to make a petition to the club chairman to try and gain a couple of extra shots on their handicaps.

Following refreshments, the competitors, blessed with near perfect golfing conditions, set out on the tranquil 18-hole parkland course with its manicured fairways, beautiful greens, fantastic views, and abundant wildlife.

Following the golf Peter Lockett and Steve Gregory joined the competitors for a 2-course dinner where the events of the day were discussed at very great length.

The John Parkinson Rose Bowl (pictured) was presented by the Group Chairman – Peter Lockett to the winner, Mike Silver (pictured) who carded an excellent score of 35 points, which gave him a 6-shot victory over the other competitors.

Peter Lockett thanked everyone who had attended and particularly the 2 visitors and everyone agreed that it had been a most enjoyable day.
