Members of lodges and chapters from the Chorley Group turned out in large numbers in support of the charity stewards’ and festival representatives at a meeting held at Ridgmont House, Horwich. 19 lodges and seven chapters attended.
The regional charity steward Malcolm Warren thanked and welcomed everyone to the meeting. A particular welcome was extended to the whole of the group executive along with their sister groups from Leyland, Leigh and Wigan, who had attended in support of Gary Smith the group charity steward and the newly appointed group festival representative Allan Shields. Assistant Provincial Grand Master, David Winder the West Lancashire 2021 MCF Vice President was also thanked for attending.
In his opening address Malcolm informed every one of the money that are raised by the whole of Freemasonry for use by our national charities. He expanded on the four charities and how they cater for everyone in the community from the cradle to the grave.
Gary Smith the group charity steward emphasized the importance of brethren being a part of the fund raising activities for the newly formed “Masonic Charitable Foundation” in raising funds which can be used in support of both Freemasons, their dependents and the Non Freemasons which are also supported.
Allan Shields the newly appointed group festival representative was introduced and he explained in great detail the duties of a MCF 2021 Festival Representatives. Handing out a facts sheets as to what is expected from a lodge / charity festival representatives, on the reverse side of that document were details of contacts to give help and assistance when needed.
The main subject of the night was the explanation of how to manage the “white envelope relief chest scheme “ and the forwarding of those stubs and cheques from brethren and companions in favor of the MCF 2021 Festival Appeal, being sent directly to Great Queens Street London. The use of the “Miscellaneous form” was also covered and all relevant documents needed could be downloaded from the provincial website on the “MCF 2021 Festival donations” section.
At the conclusion of the meeting a number of questions were answered and David Winder summarized in great detail as to the importance of the charity stewards and the festival representative during the next four years whilst we are raising funds for this particular appeal.
