What followed was an excellent ceremony, with all involved putting in a heart warming effort.

This was Keith’s fourth time in the chair of St James lodge. Keith was the second candidate of St James back in 1980. Keith’s father was a founder member. In fact Keith and his father were the only two chaplains of the lodge for the first 35 years until Keith took the chair for the third time in 2015.

The working tools of the various degrees were presented in a most delightful manner by three brethren. The first degree by Tom Grimshaw, the second degree by Jim Grime and the third degree by Stuart Thomas.

Itwas also encouraging to see so many light blues in the other offices too. Itwas great news to find out the junior warden David Grime, senior deacon DanielGrime are brothers and junior deacon James Grime is their father. So that lookslike a date for your calendars in two years time when they start to go through the chair.

The money given to charities amounted to £3,550, going to the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival £1,500, the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity £350, Firwood School £350, Derian House £300, Children’s Heart Foundation £250, Masonic Trout and Salmon Fishing Charity £350, and Friends of Ecclesholme £150. A truly great amount from a small lodge.

The festive board was also an excellent affair with great food, great company and of course a great song. The master’s song being sung by Gary Smith accompanied by the every brilliant Ray Dainton who also provided the music in the lodge room .

Bestwishes to Keith for a great year in office (again) he must either be very goodat ritual or he likes the feel of the chair of King Solomon or both.
