The companions of Standish Chapter No 4955, along with their many visitors gathered at Chorley Masonic Hall to witness the installation of Barry Dutton as first principle.
The companions were pleased and honoured to have the presence of Christopher Charles Butterfield, Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals as the principal guest who was accompanied by Chorley Group Chairman Peter Lockett, Group Treasurer and Acting Provincial Grand Steward Mike Silver and Acting Provincial Grand Steward from the Southport Group Brian Griffiths.
The meeting commenced with the three principals opening the chapter, before First Principal Malcolm Bell (Jnr) welcomed all the visitors to the evening’s installation meeting. Once the initial business had been completed the chapters DC Ken Mayren announced that Chris Butterfield stood without and sought admission. Chris was then brought into the temple in a procession, accompanied by the other distinguished guests.
Chris was warmly welcomed by the three principals and the installation ceremony started where the companions of the chapter and visitors were able to witness a superb ceremony delivered by Malcolm Bell (Jnr) which saw Barry Dutton, Philip Kavanagh and Ian Dawson installed as the First, Second and Third Principals respectively.
The scarlet robe address was excellently presented by Alan Green; and the purple robe address delivered by Malcolm Bell (Snr) and the blue robe by the Chapter Secretary Chris Furmston.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Chris brought greetings from the Grand Superintendent, and congratulated the three principals on their appointments. He expressed a wish that they have an enjoyable and busy year in office and gave special mention to Malcolm Bell (Jnr), and the Chapter DC Ken Mayren for the excellent work they had both done.
Chris was then presented with a cheque for Charity of; £300 for the MCF 2021 Festival and then thanked the companions of the chapter for their kind and generous donation and, having duly qualified, Malcolm Warren then presented the MEZ with the certificate for Vice-Patron of the MCF 2021 Festival.
Following the convocation, the members and their guests retired to enjoy the delights of an excellent festive board, with a menu consisting of; ‘Melon and Fruits’ as the starter, Steak Pie with Chips & Veg as the Main followed by a dessert of Apple Crumble & Custard.
