Tyldesley Lodge No 2572 met at Brookfield for their December meeting, followed by their traditional ‘Christmas Ladies to Dine’. 126 members, ladies and guests enjoyed a substantial festive board prepared by David, Victoria and their teams. A cheque was presented to the staff to show the lodge’s appreciation for all their efforts throughout the year.
The evening’s entertainment continued with the long-established tradition of the WM, with the senior and junior wardens giving an acapella rendition of ‘We Three Kings’. This year Bryn Hart, Derek Robinson and Derek Bond were in the hot seat as the three kings arrived on their dromedaries. Guests were advised to keep their arms and legs in, as they may otherwise be at risk from spitting and/or biting during this spectacular, as the kings proceeded to dash round the dining hall with the riders barely keeping control of the wild beasts!
A silent raffle was organised by Derek Robinson and helpers which raised a fantastic total of £701 for charity.
Following the raffle, everyone joined in the singing of traditional carols which were accompanied by the musicians of Tyldesley Brass Band under the baton of Robert Taylor. The ladies of the lodge sang ‘Silent Night’ and the members sang ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’. The band then played a selection of pieces from their Christmas repertoire. As is tradition, the band were then presented with a cheque for their funds.
The evening ended with the singing of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’, followed by ‘Happy to Meet’ and ‘Auld Lang Syne’. The WM Bryn Hart thanked everyone for their support and participation and wished everyone a safe journey home.
Tyldesley Lodge confirm that no animals or humans were harmed during this event.
