Phil Hampson, Master of Rockhaven and Horwich Lodge No 2324 and his wife Vivien, invited members, wives, family and friends to the Annual Lodge Ladies’ Evening which this year was held at Shaw Hill Golf Resort and Spa Hotel, Whittle-le-Woods.
The evening commenced with a champagne reception during which Vivien and Phil mingled with guests. Director of Ceremonies, David Worth, then requested guests to make their way into the Penina Suite ready to greet Vivien and Phil in the traditional way as they made their way to their table. Following Grace offered by Acting Chaplain Gerry Kay, Phil welcomed the guests on behalf of himself and Vivien, expressing the wish that all would enjoy the evening.
As could be expected, a very high standard of pre-ordered dishes were served by Shaw Hill. Following dinner Acting Chaplain, Gerry Kay, returned thanks and Phil proposed the Loyal Toast. Junior Warden, Chris Gregory, proposed a very eloquent toast to our principal guest, Vivien and the other ladies present. Senior Warden Allan Shields, made a presentation to Vivien which at her request was a donation to Speakeasy, a charitable organisation working with sufferers from aphasia. The Song to the Ladies was sung by Steven Greenhalgh accompanied by David Arnold with the gentlemen joining in harmony for the choruses.
Now it was Vivien’s moment to respond which she did with confidence and charm, thanking everyone for their support in helping to make the evening a great success.
Music for dancing during the evening was by Back Beat.
At 12.00 the guests gathered around Vivien and Phil and brought the evening to a close with Auld Lang Syne following which Phil thanked everyone for attending and wished them a safe journey home.
