Freemasons believe in an ethical approach to life. Our values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount. However, Freemasonry also teaches and practises concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need.

I extend to you a warm welcome to the website for the Chorley and District Masonic Group. The district covers three main centres, Chorley, Westhoughton and Horwich.
Freemasons have met in Chorley for many years. The town’s first lodge was founded in 1788. Sadly the Atholl Lodge is no longer with us, but Astley and Ellesmere Lodge No 730, which was founded over 150 years ago, is still flourishing.
Today the Group comprises over 600 Freemasons, who meet in 21 lodges, 7 Royal Arch Chapters and various other very interesting masonic orders.
Freemasonry is a wonderful society, and is one of the world’s oldest and largest fraternal and charitable organisations and is non religious and non political. It does not discriminate on grounds of race, colour, religion, political views or social standing….Read more
